Regional Director, Rochester and Syracuse
In September 2005, Julia Day was appointed Regional Director of the Rochester-Syracuse Office for the New York State Division of Human Rights.
Ms. Day joined the agency in 1978 as an investigator, later serving as supervising investigator. Prior to joining the Division she was a radio news reporter and broadcaster, primarily at WDKX radio, where she served as News Director.
She is a frequent speaker for community groups and college classes on issues relating to discrimination and the Human Rights Law, and has often conducted training on the Human Rights Law, investigation techniques, and conciliation.
She is Third Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Rochester, is a community mediator for the Rochester Center for Dispute Settlement, is a member and past president of the Rush Public Library Board of Trustees, and serves on the Town of Rush Conservation Board.
Ms. Day holds a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Rochester.
